GROWING POTATOES IN A BAG – CROPPING

If you dont want to devote the space to growing main crop potatoes in your garden or you would like to new potatoes with your Christmas dinner the best way to grow them is in a container or bag. I have never seen the point in paying good money for a ‘specific potato growing bag’ when they are perfectly happy in a recycling bag supplied by yoru local council. Just 12 weeks after planting these potatoes I show you what sort of crop you can expect from them.

NO DIG STRAW BALE RAISED BED CONSTRUCTION

The title is far more complicated than the construction!!
One of the quickest and most effective ways of creating a new productive vegetable bed is by combining the techniques of No-Dig growing and the use of Straw or Hay bales. This film explains how and why i find this such a great way to add growing beds quickly and get the bed productively producing fresh vegetables the shortest time.

Its so easy to build and within 40minuites i was planting Courgettes,Summer Squash and Winter Squash in this new No-Dig Raised bed

NO DIG BED – TOPPING UP IN SPRING

As the No-Dig bed will not have been cultivated by Double Digging during the winter we need to replenish the nutrients so in the Spring we can use our home made compost or well rotted manure or even spent mushroom compost.
No-Dig growing allows you to make the best use of your compost and it puts the roots of your plants into a great growing medium with out the winter rains having washed any of the available nutrients away allowing them the best possible access to all the available feed
