HOW TO GROW CITRUS – Kaffir Lime

Growing Citrus can be tricky as they like lots of light, feeding well in the growing season but dont like to be kept wet, but they are tough and even very poorly specimens can be revived.
Lemons and Oranges are great to grow purely for scent and the odd fruit but my favorite is Kaffir Lime as its an essential  ingredient in Thai cooking and almost Impossible to buy fresh and the fresh leaves add so much more to a dish when used.

GARDENING TOOLS FOR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS–(to last a lifetime)

http://learn-how-to-garden.com

In this second film on Christmas Presents for gardeners I focus exclusively on Sneeboer Tools.  I make no apology for this as in my opinion they are the best tools currently available.  I cover hand tools, hoes, and digging tools and some unusual weeders.  Some of these you won’t have seen before as they were originally made for very specialist applications and its only with use that I have come to appreciate the great versatility of them.

I buy tools that I expect to do the job and last a long time and so many nowadays just seen to be made to the cheapest price point and ultimately are are bad investments

WHAT TO GROW AND SOW IN NOVEMBER

November is a month to get lots of planning done ,what worked, what didnt its the time we order seeds and plants for next year but also great for planting trees and preparing perennial  beds for long tern crops like asparagus

Taking the time to prepare a bed for things like asparagus is essential as they can grow for up to 20 years

There are things to sow Broad beans and peas outside the hardneck garlic’s and salads under cover, its also vital to cover your winter Brassicas against pigeon damage
